Bio

ART HAINS
Art Hains first came to Springfield as a 21-year-old broadcaster in 1977, and except for a four-year period, has been here ever since.  He has been "Voice of the Missouri State Bears” from 1977-81 and from 1985-present and has hosted a nightly, two-hour sports talk show since 1995.  Since 2001, the show has aired on Springfield station KWTO-FM.  He is Marketing Specialist for Missouri State University.

In 2008, Hains added the additional duties of game day host for the Kansas City Chiefs Radio Network.  He anchors pre-and post-game coverage on KCFX-FM 101.1 in Kansas City, and the 58-station Chiefs Radio Network.

A native of Marshall, MO, Hains is a broadcast journalism graduate of Southern Methodist University in Dallas.  From 1981-85, he worked at Dallas radio station KRLD and hosted the Cowboys pre and post-game shows.  During that time, he also served as studio host for the Southwest Conference Radio Network, and took part in SMU football and basketball game broadcasts, and PGA Tour event coverage in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area.

During his time in Springfield, Hains has called over 2,000 MSU games including 6 NCAA basketball tournament appearances and the 2003 College World Series. He was elected to the Springfield Area Sports Hall of Fame in 2003. He has been married for 34 years to Lisa Hains, a native of Monett, MO.  They have two children:  Chris, 29, a 2008 MSU graduate and Kathleen, 24, a 2012 graduate of Stephens College.   Hains is a past member of the Springfield-Greene County Park Board, is a member of Southeast Rotary Club and past secretary of GYN Cancers Alliance.  He is an elder at First & Calvary Presbyterian Church.
